ADAMS, ANNIE: Miss Annie Adams, grand daughter of Fenton J. Brown, died last Saturday. (Cumberland County) [Date: 4/11/1895, Vol. VIII, No. 23, Page 7]

ADAMS, DAUGHTER OF DICK: A Horrible Accident. -- SPECK, Dec. 5. -- A horrible accident occurred on the 28th of Nov. in the 10th district of Clay county. The 16-year old daughter of Dick Adams was in the woods standing around a fire when her clothing ignited. She ran as fast as she could to the road when her clothing burned from her body. ADAMS, NANCY JANE: Died, at the home of John Q. Burnett, April 6, 1896, Nancy Jane Adams, age 79 years. Mrs. Adams was the widow of John Q. Adams, a daughter of James Fryer, an old settler of Knox County; and a sister of John Fryer, of Big Lick, one of our most respected citizens. She was well known all over this and in Knox county. AGEE, JONATHAN W.: Jonathan W. Agee, one of Smith county's oldest citizens died last Sunday of old age, being in his 84th year. He leaves a wife and several grown children. (Smith County) [Date: 2/18/1897, Vol. X, No. 18, Page 1]
ALEXANDER, MRS. C. F.: Mrs. Alexander, wife of C. F. Alexander, was buried at the Whitaker grave yard on last Friday. She was ill only a day or two and her demise wholly unexpected. [Date: 10/19/1899, Vol. XIII, No. 42, Page 1]

AMONETTE, CORA: Miss Cora Amonett, youngest daughter of Dr. F. M. Amonette, died last Friday evening about four o'clock. (Gentry) [Date: 11/4/1897, Vol. XI, No. 3, Page 1]
ANDERSON, GEORGE: Mr. Geo. Anderson, who lives 1 1/2 miles west of town died last Sunday. [Date: 6/17/1897, Vol. X, No. 35, Page 5]
ANDERSON, JANE: Mrs. Jane Anderson, mother of J. L. Anderson, died at her home near Pleasant Hill, Wednesday, Jan. 9th., of dropsy. (Cumberland County) [Date: 1/30/1896, Vol. IX, No. 14, Page 1]
ANDERSON, L. S.: Mrs. L. S. Anderson, wife of Fate Anderson of Gainesboro, died at that place last Friday. Mrs. Anderson was a good woman and a general favorite with all who knew her. ANDERSON, MRS. VAN: The wife of Mr. Van Anderson died at her home in Spencer last week. They had lately moved to that place from Bozarth. Mrs. Anderson had been in bad health for some time and her death was not unexpected. She leaves several small children besides her husband to mourn her loss. ARMISTEAD, JOHN: John Armistead, aged about 26 years son of Fred Armistead died last Sunday near Stonewall. (Overton County) [Date: 9/13/1894, Vol. VII, No. 46, Page 6]
ARMSTRONG, A. TIM: During an exciting encounter on the steamer P. D. Staggs, at 7 o'clock Saturday night at a point about two miles up the river from Nashville, between the boat's officers and a crowd of drunken upper river raftsmen, Capt. A. Tim Armstrong was stabbed in the chest, the knife blade penetrating the right lung, from the effects of which he died Sunday morning. McClure Williams, a typical raftsman, is locked up at Nashville, charged with doing the stabbing. This news will be received with regret by the people of the upper Cumberland. Capt. Armstrong was raised at Livingston, Overton county, and was 48 years of age, just in the prime of vigorous manhood. He was admired by all his friends for his bravery and intelligence, and his friends are legion. Capt. Armstrong was a nephew of Burr Cullom, of this place, and first cousin to Joe Cullom, of the PRESS. He leaves a wife and two daughters. [Date: 2/7/1895, Vol. VIII, No. 14, Page 5]
ARNOLD, FRANK: Tuesday evening, April 6, 1897, Mr. Frank Arnold, and aged and respected citizen living in West Sparta, died suddenly of heart disease. He and his wife and daughter, Mrs. Anderson, and grand daughter, Miss Carrie Anderson, were returning home from Mat Anderson's, where they had been spending the day, and were in front of the residence of Dr. J. H. Snodgrass, when Mr. Arnold was seemed to totter as if to fall. Mrs. Arnold caught at him and lessened the weight with which he fell to the ground. He never spoke and was dead instantly. AUSTIN, MAGGIE: Miss Maggie Austin, daughter of W. E. Austin, died at her home near here yesterday morning, aged 25 years. The interment took place at Bethlehem. (Sparta) [Date: 9/16/1897, Vol. X, No. 49, Page 1]
AVERY, MRS. JOHN: Mrs. John Avery died at her home in Cookeville Tuesday morning of consumption. Mrs. Avery with her husband came here from Michigan a few months ago, and during her brief residence, made many friends who deeply regret her death. [Date: 1/23/1896, Vol. IX, No. 13, Page 5]
