EAKLES, MRS.: Mrs. Ekles was buried at the Phillips Graveyard last Wednesday. She leaves a father and mother, brother, husband and little baby to miss her here. "Be ye ready for in such an hour as ye think not the son of man cometh." [Date: 11/3/1910, Vol. VIII, No. 44, Page 6]

ECKEL, CHARLEY: Mr. Charley Eckel died Friday and was buried Saturday in the home graveyard. He will be missed by many friends. [Date: 4/1/1908, Vol. VI, No. 9, Page 3]

EDMONDS, MARION: Marion Edmonds died near his home with heart failure a few days past. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved ones. [Date: 11/2/1911, Vol. IX, No. 44, Page 6]

EDMONS, BABY OF MARION: Marion Edmons' baby died last week. [Date: 8/25/1910, Vol. VIII, No. 34, Page 8]

EDWARDS, C. H.: C. H. Edwards too his own life, in his room at the hotel in Baxter, last night, shooting himself in the breast three times with a pistol, about one o'clock and dying at six this morning. Mr. Edwards was a young man of wealth, highly educated and an athlete. His home was in Paris, Ky., where he was taken for burial. He was employed in lumber buying. EDWARDS, MRS. THOMAS: We are very sorry to learn of the death of Mrs. Thomas Edwards, which occurred at her father's home near Leon. She leaves a husband and several children to mourn her loss. We sympathize with them in their said bereavement. [Date: 12/23/1903, Vol. I, No. 45, Page 8]

EDWARDS, THOS.: Word reaches us that Thos. Edwards died at his home in the 16th district this morning. He was a prominent farmer and the father of County Judge Sam Edwards. [Date: 2/1/1912, Vol. X, No. 5, Page 5]

EDWARDS, TOM: Uncle Tom Edwards died the first day of this month after being sick for some time. He was 74 years old last June, an old confederate soldier and had been a member of the Pistol church for a number of years. He leaves a wife and one son and daughter to mourn his loss and a host of friends. He was the father of our county judge. He will be missed by his family and not only his family but the entire community. His remains were laid to rest in the Boiling Springs cemetery, services being conducted by Rev. Sam Howell. ELDER, MRS. J. W.: News has been received by Will R. Staley of the sudden death of Mrs. J. W. Elder at her home in San Francisco, Cal., on Feb. 22. Mrs. Elder endeared herself to the members of the First Tennessee Regiment while they were in Frisco during the Spanish war. She visited this city several years ago, and won many friends here by her gracious manner, all of whom will regret to learn of her death. [Date: 3/6/1907, Vol. V, No. 1, Page 1]

ELDRIDGE, JELINA BENNETT: Mrs. Jelina Bennett Eldridge, born Jan. 7, 1847; died July 3, 1910. She was married to L. H. Eldridge Sept. 18, 1879, and is survived by one son and four daughters. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church for over forty years, and during that time had lived a true Chrictian (sic) life. . . . [Date: 7/21/1910, Vol. VIII, No. 29, Page 2]

ELDRIDGE, MRS. GEO: Mrs. Geo. Eldridge died Dec. 3rd. [Date: 12/8/1910, Vol. VIII, No. 49, Page 4]

ELDRIDGE, MRS. L. H.: Death has again visited this community and claimed for its victim Mrs. L. H. Eldridge. She had been in feeble health for several months. She was always cheerful and said she was ready for to go. She is survived by husband, one son and four daughters. The bereaved have the sympathy of the community. ELROD, IDA: Ida Elrod died last week of meningitis. She was a daughter of James Elrod. [Date: 6/17/1903, Vol. I, No. 19, Page 8]

ELROD, LULU: Mrs. Lulu Elrod died at her home six miles north of this city Monday, Nov. 11, 1907. She leaves a husband and one child, and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo D. Matheney. The funeral took place at Paran on Wednesday, services begin conducted by Rev. Henry Carr of Algood and Rev. W. H. Gilbert of Livingston. [Date: 11/14/1907, Vol. V, No. 37, Page 1]

ELROD, MRS. JOHN: Mrs. John Elrod, who has been sick for some time, died Wednesday. [Date: 2/10/1909, Vol. VII, No. 6, Page 2]

EMERTON, WIFE OF WES: The death angel visited the home of Wes Emerton and claimed for its victim his wife. She was sick one day and night with congestion of the brain. ENGLAND, A. J.: Death visited us one day last week and claimed from us A. J. England. He leaves a large family to mourn his loss and quite a number of friends. We would say to the bereaved family prepare yourselves to meet him in that sweet home where parting is no more. Mr. England professed religion some few days before his death and we now believe he is at rest. Will say to his children prepare yourselves for you know not at what time you may be called. ENGLAND, B.: B. England of Calfkiller died Feb. 23 of consumption. Rev. G. W. Foster held funeral services at the grave. He was a son of Thomas England. [Date: 2/26/1908, Vol. VI, No. 4, Page 2]

ENSOR, MRS. A. V. KELLY: Mrs. A. V. Kelly-Ensor, wife of Dr. L. D. J. Ensor of this city, was born Nov. 13, 1858, and died Sept. 25, 1913, aged 54 years, 10 months and 13 days. She professed religion and joined the church while quite young. At the time of her death and for many years past she was a faithful member of the Methodist church at Cookeville. She is survived by her husband, two sons, W. Frank Ensor of Cookeville, and James L. Ensor of Buffalo Valley, and four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Shanks, Misses Bertha, Rettie and Naomi Ensor, all of Cookeville. She also leaves one brother, J. M. Kelly of Gordonsville, and five sisters, Mrs. Emma K. Baird of Elkton, Mrs. Wm. Gwaltney of Gordonsville, Mrs. A. C. Washburn of Nashville, Mrs. M. M. Ford of Gallatin, and Mrs. J. P. ENSOR, MRS. L. D. J.: Mrs. L. D. J. Ensor died at her home in this city this afternoon, after a long illness. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. W. M. McClearen. [Date: 9/25/1913, Vol. XI, No. 39, Page 3]

ENSOR, MRS. MONSEY: Mrs. Monsey Ensor died Saturday and was buried Sunday near Gentry. [Date: 12/10/1908, Vol. VI, No. 46, Page 1]

ENSOR, ROY: Roy Ensor met a tragic death last Saturday morning in a small mill near his home at Ensor. His clothing caught on a setscrew in a shaft and the unfortunate young man was wound around the shaft and his body terribly broken. Death was almost instantaneous. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Ensor and a young man of sterling character. [Date: 5/26/1910, Vol. VIII, No. 21, Page 5]

EPPERSON, MALLIE: Mrs. Mallie, wife of S. A. Epperson, and step mother of John A. Epperson, died at her home in Algood Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1903. The remains were taken to Nashville for burial, the interment being at Mt. Olivet cemetery, where services were conducted by Rev. John R. Stewart. [Date: 10/21/1903, Vol. I, No. 37, Page 2]

ERVIN, BABY OF MR. AND MRS. G. W.: The baby of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Ervin died Dec. 23 of whooping cough. [Date: 1/6/1910, Vol. VIII, No. 1, Page 3]

ESTER, LILLIE: The death angel visited our town Thursday night and claimed for its victim Mrs. Lillie Ester, wife of John Ester, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Oakley. ESTILL, INFANT OF TOM: Died on the 19th, the infant of Tom Estill. [Date: 8/26/1903, Vol. I, No. 29, Page 3]

EVANS, INFANT OF ALEX: The infant of Alex Evans was found dead in bed Sunday morning. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. P. Welch. [Date: 1/20/1910, Vol. VIII, No. 3, Page 8]

EVANS, JOHNIE LEE: Johnie Lee, little daughter of J. B. Evans of the 11th district, died Feb. 26, with croup. [Date: 3/2/1904, Vol. II, No. 4, Page 1]
