  • Born: Rhea County on 5 January 1838
  • Enlisted in Gen G. G.Dibrell's Cavalry Co K about 2 November 1862 under Captain Swearingin. Lt. Terry.
  • Detached to carry cattle to East Tennessee and cut off. Was captured and carried to Sparta; Took the Oath of Allegiance. He was given a choice to either take the oath or go North of the Ohio River or to join them.
  • Married: Wife is 69 years old. Three daughters living with him: one blind and two widowed

    • Enlisted 9 Oct 1862 in Gen George G. Dibrell command.
    • The command was at Sparta where they were expected to remain for several days.
    • He was detailed to help Thomas Pointer & James Bartlett take a drive of cattle to Kingston
    • While doing so, Gen Dibrell moved the army across the mountain.
    • The enemy captured the cattle near Kingston.
    • The area was full of federals and he had to return home.
    • His command had gone to VA and he was unable to get back to the army.
    • 6 weeks later, he got as far as Crossville
    • It was full of Federals and he had to return home.
    • When he enlisted, he had a wife and three kids.
    • He was in the battles of Parkers Cross Roads, Triune, Franklin and numerous other skirmishes
  • 25 Mar 1911 - WHN requests a status
  • 16 Jan 1914 - J. F. Dyer, Physician, performs an exam
  • 17 Jan 1914 - C. J. Davis was present at his marriage 55 years ago
  • 20 Jan 1914 - C. J. Davis sent a postcard to Jno. P. Hickman
